The Social Network - movie and beyond

Last night I watched 'The Social Network' aka "the facebook movie with justin timberlake omg it's meant to be so good".

It was amazing. I'm not going into details, but in my opinion it was SO well put together, the story was fascinating...and the actors (yes, even JT) were incredible. INCREDIBLE.

Go see it, ASAP.

In other news, my Foursquare addiction is progressing nicely and I unlocked the '16 Candles Badge' today! Wooohhooo.

Yesterday I got a Distinction + in my university assignment - 'The Downfall of Lindsay Lohan' which was a critique of a new story for my Principles of PR class. Our group came top in the class..I've said it once and I'll say it again - VIVA LA LOHAN!

Speaking of social networking, today, a twitpic I took of a fire on Sydney's Oxford Street made it into the Sydney Morning Herald and various other Australian online publications (with my name credited, of course). This is why I am in love with social media. My ex boyfriend hated me for it. I guess when you wake up in the middle of the night to check your twitter, you know you have a problem.

Addicted

to Foursquare.

For those of you that don't know what Foursquare is - it's another social networking tool (alas, unbeknown to many). You check in at different locations, updating your friends to your whereabouts. You can gain rewards at certain venues (like free chips @ Grill'd!), and the idea is to collect 'badges'. Such badges are highly addictive. I want the pretty, rare ones! ...Social media freak = I.

Don't judge.

'The Sweat Shop'

Today I heard Sweaty Betty's (Australia's largest beauty and fashion PR agency) reality TV show, The Sweat Shop, will no longer be airing on Channel 7.

This news came eeyrily soon after a friend and I were pondering exactly when the show would be aired. I love the Spin Crowd, and a show based in Sydney - at places we know and go to, and the PR industry itself would be so good.

Shoutout to someone @ Foxtel: pick up the show!

"Just a quick drink" - famous last words.

So, at 1pm yesterday I get a text - "come for a quick drink with me and Tiff at The London".

With an hour or two to spare before a party later that afternoon, I soon found myself enroute to The London in the blissful Sydney sun.

Fast forward 2 hours, 5 bottles of wine, 2 cocktails and a thunderstorm - we are running wild through the streets of quiet and quaint Paddington - complete with a cat slung over my shoulder (naturally). One birthday party, random descent on a friends apartment in Wooloomoolloo, a conversation with a stranger about circumcision and XYZ amount of cocktails/wine later - we are home in bed eating pods and watching The Spin Crowd.

Half a day in bed, a vanilla milkshake, bacon sandwich, sushi, ANTM, SATC, coffee and copious amounts of water later - I am home - and survived to tell the tale....

Sometimes the random nights that were never planned are the best.

Tomorrow after class I'm going to the pre-screening of 'The Social Network' - a film based around the founding of www.facebook.com . It's had amazing reviews, so I'm really excited to watch it. The poster is gold.

Stay tuned for an update...until then - sneak peak of last nights antics...

XOXO

Get Outta My Teenage Dream (Official Katy Perry/Kylie Minogue Mash-up)

This is such a good summer song. And, today in Sydney it's 30 degrees! I'm just off to Rushcutters Bay to sunbake pre cocktail party! Summer - FINALLY!

LIVE

Before I sleep...I'm loving this.

It's nothing new to the internet - but I still love it. Watch Lindsay Lohan's court tribuneral LIVE. haha, too good. Viva La Lohan.

According to sources, LiLo is likely to head back to jail today despite several weeks of 'sobering-up' @ The Betty Ford Clinic. I'm wishing Lindsay all the best, despite how entertaining this tabloid-trainwreck may be. She's due at court in a matter of minutes.

Peace out bitches XOXO

Mission Accomplished.

It's 2am... my swedish housemate Lily and I rented the movie 'The Back-up Plan' with J-Lo and some gorrggeeeous man-candy whose name I can't remember, and drank red wine and ate chocolate! Rather menopause-esque, I loved it. Perfect Friday night in!

Cute movie..check it out.

Hello weekend! xoxo

Tonight...

...I am trying to stay in. I am really trying.

Last night I judged the 'ECOuture' Fashion Show (on behalf one OneNoffs) - which featured 16 fashion & textiles students from UTS and NSW Tafe. The designs were all amazing...

Before the runway show myself and the other judges met the designers and their models. It was interesting to see how important it that a designer can sell their idea and concept to you...stressing how vital it is for a designer to not only be an amazing designer, but also communicator.

After the show I attended the 'Daughter of the Gods' swimwear launch party at Hugo in Kings Cross. The martini's were great, I'll leave it at that....

To be brutally honest - the models ran so fast down the runway at the party that after a few drinks I could barely see the swimwear itself...so yeah. I'm sure if I saw it on a beach it'd look great, it just felt slightly unorganised.

After the party my friend Phyllie and I went for a dance, then headed home to bed. Had a long day at work today. We filmed a segment for Australian TV personality and designer of the label 'Love Chile' Faye De Lanty's online-show 'Fashion Hound'. Rupert filmed a segment on OneNoffs and GIDEON Shoes, and I filmed a 'street-style' piece. Faye is too funny, love her.

I've just called my Nana, Grandma and Mother. After a long hot shower, I suddenly feel less tired...but I am determined to stay in and recuperate from what seems like an endless week!

Ciao for now xoxo

Weekend Delight

Last weekend I spent almost the entire weekend on the Northern Beaches - about 20 minutes drive from the CBD (only in Sydney!). Whilst I had some crazy plans in the works, I had a last minute need for a bit of rest and relaxation, and with a lingering assignment for uni due on Tuesday; it seemed like a good idea to head north for the weekend. And it was! Sometimes it's great to get away even for a couple of days - even if it's 20 minutes drive away.

I lived on the Northern Beaches from August 2008 to June 2009, and whilst living there full time isn't for me - it carries a special place in my heart, and is honestly such a beautiful place to live. But it's too slow for me to live there permanently, and the Spit Bridge KILLS me.

So, I spent the weekend sleeping in, going for long walks on the beach, catching up with friends, eating sushi, watching dvds and...oh, yeah, doing uni...not so glamorous!

The evening before I left I went for dinner at the Victoria Rooms, on Victoria Street, Darlinghurst. The decor was super cute - had a very antique, british high-tea with the queen but in a sort of - queen visiting a warmer country kind of feel to it...hard to explain. The cocktail list was surprisingly extensive, and I of course stuck to my favourite tequila cocktails all evening. For mains - being with a table of 10 we shared a 'banquet' which was basically lots of small dishes; chicken, fish, beef...it was heaven! Then dessert came out...OMG! Turkish delight, nougat galore all on a platter...was so well presented and SO strange since it was only earlier that day I'd been in Harris Farm Markets debating whether or not to buy some turkish delight myself!

After returning back to the darling suburb of Paddington, it was back to uni, work and life. Always good to have time to reflect and relax and unwind away from home to clear your head and your mind. I love making level-headed decisions away from everything, and thinking about things logically.

Last night I went and saw the documentary 'Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work' with my best friend. It was everything you never expected it to be. Sad, funny, moving, strange, bizarre, inspiring, tragic...completely twisted in the best possible way. And seeing Joan Rivers with no makeup on was entertaining enough. The woman is 75 years old!! Insane.

Tomorrow evening I am representing OneNoffs and judging a "ECOuture" Fashion Show, whereby design students have made outfits from recycled materials or thrift store finds. I've seen the judges pack and there are some amazing looks, these people are seriousl
y talented. After that I am attending the 'Daughter of the Gods' swimwear launch at Hugo's in the Kings Cross. I'll be taking some snaps of the evening for some upcoming work-related developments.

This weekend I have 3 friends birthdays to attend - inbetween which I shall be catching up on sleep and eating healthily. Finally a weekend has arrived where I have nothing to do but relax and have fun with friends!

Stay tuned! X

Cry

Today someone posted this quote on my twitter. I think it's totally cute...

Studio 54 Costume Party

This weekend I am...Angel Melendez.

That's hot.

Forget Paris Hilton. Forget Nicole Richie.

BOOM.

I'm currently reading...

The Assassination of Marilyn Monroe (one of my all time idols) by Donald H. Wolfe. Completely amazing, provoking, inspiring and a wonderful read.

To take on where I left off….

My night out with Sam & Emily in London was so much fun…After sipping fine wine and giggling over several Big Brother has-beens at Shoreditch House we ventured into Soho, where we experienced the delights of several gay clubs and danced the night away. The next day we all met for lunch in Camden, and gossiped for what seemed like forever at a cute little pub over pubesque english food and refreshments.

That same day we also ventured into a couple of tattoo parlours to talk to some artists about ideas we have and what they thought…but that’s for another blog!

The weekend, which I assumed would be a quite weekend away with the family, was anything but. By the end of it I felt like Amy Winehouse, post 5 day bender. Oh dear. Spending 3 days solid with one entire side of my family was fantastic though. I did the 'Falconry' - I held an Owl called Lulu on my arm, and a massive falcon (it was scary - not gonna lie).

My flight back to Sydney was absolutely horrific . I’m not usually one to complain about flying, which considering the amount of long haul flights I've undertaken in the last two years alone is something I’m rather proud of. But this was something else! After 2 stop overs (1 of which was never actually mentioned – cheers Emirates), 4 movies (Toy Story 3, Date Night, The Little Mermaid & a shark doco), 30 hours and 5 temazipan later I arrived back on Australian turf.

As the saying goes, there’s no rest for the wicked. The day after I returned I started my new job working for the Ted Noffs Foundation, more specifically assisting Rupert Noffs, and working on the PR for the social enterprises the foundation undertakes – OneNoffs and GIDEON Shoes.

3 weeks down the line and work is going great. The difference between working a job you are genuinely passionate about and enjoy, and one you are doing simply because it pays the rent is HUGE. I love going to work, and working on all the exciting things we have planned for the future. Having the freedom to be creative is a blessing.

Meanwhile, I feel like since I arrived home I literally have. Not. Stopped. In-between work, catching up with friends, uni, partying and work events…I cannot remember the last time I had a quiet night in and watched a dvd. The nights all seem to have blended into one stream of cocktails, dancing and cigarettes galore. Don't judge.

Last Friday night was particularly fabulous. Whilst on a night out with my friends at Sydney’s ‘Piano Room’. The night begun sipping cocktails in a bar in Paddington, and ending with dancing with my friend Tiffany (www.socialdiary.com.au) in front of a wind machine at a gay club at 3am..whoooops!

One thing I’ve come to realise over the past few months; finding genuinely kind-hearted people in this little city of Sydney is way easier said than done. I treasure the people I find that fit that criteria.

So, as I sit here typing this blog this Wednesday evening (actually 2am Thursday morning) – my first quiet night in for as far as my cocktail saturated brain can recall; my night has consisted of cooking a healthy stir fry, watching Sex and the City episodes with my Swedish housemate Lily, doing a foodshop for the first time in 2 weeks, and eating cheese and crackers (with a little glass of wine, of course). Completely perfect.

This weekend I have a ‘Studio 54’ themed dress-up party. I also have a growing pile of uni work that needs attacking. Generally life is great & 4 weeks more of uni and I’m done for the year! Wooohhoooo.

Until next time (promise it won’t be so long.)

Miley Cyrus - Who Owns My Heart - Official Music Video [HQ]

I've been a fan of Miley for as long as she's been around. I was sat front row at her last concert at the O2 Arena in London and it was absolutely incredible. Yes I just said that and no, I don't care. Despite being sat in a sea of 12 year old tween girls and their mothers, me and my best friend Emily had the most insane night. Miley was riding above the audience on a motorbike on strings... Need I say more?

Here's the latest video for her single Who Owns My Heart. Awesome song, check it out.
